If Agnostics can do it, The Spiritual and Religious can do it.

Is there a God, are there multiple Gods, or is religion man made to provide answers and rule over others? These are questions that have been debated for millennias. Questions that have resulted in war, bloodshed, oppression, and a lot of death.

My Christian coworker will make every reasonable logical agnostic argument that every religion including Catholicism is man made. Reasons like needing to understand things, tripping on drugs, and wanting power or an excuse to seize resources. There is one exception, he cannot accept that christianity was man made because he doesn't want to go to hell if he's wrong.

Deep down I know part of him has to believe his arguements also apply to his own religion. He has said in the past that there are too many questions and contradictions unanswered in his religion but he chalks it up to he's not meant to understand.

I'm like be honest with yourself (in my head). If he wants to believe that's fine but admit he  questions the legitimacy of his religion / belief system. If agnostics can admit they don't know and need proof for them to believe, a spiritual or religious person can admit they have questions but need proof to make them disbelieve.
