The Innsurection Hearings Failed To Draw People In On Night One.

We all know about the failed insurrection attempt on January 6, 2021. Anyone who says it was anything else is either naive, lying or both. We all know what happened days later when the house impeached Trump and the senate did nothing. And we know what happened since. The committee decided they had enough evidence to put it before the American people. 

The committee held their first night of hearings. They gave their opening statements. They played some video and audio clips. And then called forth live testimony. They ate up a lot of time and when the night was done, they didn't delivery anything that we did already expect or know. There was no "damn, they got them" moment. There was nothing that said you're gonna wanna tune in tomorrow. It was dull and boring.

America just watched a trial that had lies and deception. That had a woman sitting on a bed and cutting a man's finger tip off. America had a trial with bad acting and lots of objections. Although it was a circus, it had impact on domestic violence and showed there was a double standard when it came to male victims.

What aired on June 9th, 2022 lacked that kinda entertainment feel. And the story they did tell was not compelling. Not in the slightest. If the prime time hearings were to capture the attention of the American people, they failed. They will have their hearings and submit their evidence. However, a lot of people will not be tuning in to see it. That includes people who believe the opening statements.

On social media the only people who were outraged at what they heard were the people who've been outraged. The american right wing was defending Trump and the events of January 6th per usual. There are polls showing Republicans don't care about the failed insurrection. So regardless of what happens with these hearings, it will not deter them if they decide to do it again.

The best this country can hope for is that the hearings show the former president and certain members of congress committed seditious acts. And that they can prove it before the November elections. Mueller left it to the United States Attorney General to indicate the former president for collusion. We failed to indict the former president then. The United States cannot afford to let the former president off the hook a second time.
